The Ultimate Motivation

I have never been the most motivated person with out a rabbit to chase or a carrot dangling in front of my face. I realized this about myself only in the past few years, and regret not realizing and coming to terms with it before.

Recently you may have noticed I have been on a tear. I am designing more, writing more, and spending much more time at the office. I am filling my day with all I can and I can attribute all of this motivation to a myriad of goals I would like to achieve before Thanksgiving. Not least of these is a new car. Well, new for me.

For years I have thought about what I always wanted in terms of a car. Unlike most I do not immediately go for the typical Ferrari or Lamborgini choices. Although I appreciate those particular four wheel speed monsters, my favorite cars have always been the BMW and the Aston Martin.

Because of BMWs long running activity in racing I have been following them longer and probably know more about that particular line. Not to mention my favorite F1 manufacturer is BMW. With Aston’s recent return to GT racing I have been more in tune with the cars setup and the technology that goes into those fine speci-mines.

Since Aston Martins are way out of my price range, and I mean like Alpha Centauri out, I have been searching for BMWs that I would like to own. I have found that for the rest of my life I will probably desire a large amount of them.

My favorite BMW, the 1987 M6 would be the crown jewel of my life; if I could get one right now. I mean, that would be the closest thing to heaven. I really want a more intimate relationship with that car though. The fact that only 1600 1987 M6s were sold in the US makes it a connoisseur’s car. It would be something I would love to buy crappie and restore from the ground up. That being the case I have stopped my search for one at the moment, seeing as I have no garage to work on it, and I really need a reliable vehicle to get me around.

With new factors in my goal I have been talking to my cousin Ken who has been the owner of a 1997 528i since it rolled off the line in mid ’96. My aunt drives the 528 at the moment and has brought it my way many times in the last year to check out this problem and that. I have fixed a few things here and there learning about BMW’s architecture along the way. Needless to say I have fell in love with the car, and when that happens it gets a name, following the influence of “Gone in 60 Seconds.” So “Renee” is now in my sites. I have determined she is to be mine and I am going to make it happen sometime before Thanksgiving.

She has been a great motivator and has me working on new freelance projects so that when I get a hold of her I can get her all done up and take her out on the town.

Some of you may say I am obsessed, some my say I am strange. Let me tell you this…There are two things I love wrapped around me; a woman’s arms, and a BMW chasse.

Thanks Dave! Your site and articles have also been a huge motivation for me. It is really what got me started in this blog medium and launched my exploration of furthering my CSS skills.
